Candace Cameron Bure Says Her Son's Sermon Saved Her Marriage

Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about the time her marriage to Valeri Bure was saved by their son, Lev.
The 49-year-old Full House star spoke out on the latest episode of her podcast about a tough time in her marriage.
“Val and I went through a really, really rough season in our marriage in 2020, and that’s when the pandemic hit,” she admitted.
“It was going south quickly, and we were like, ‘I don’t know, don’t think…we’re gonna make it through.’ But at one point, [our son] Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us. Just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it.”

“And I’ll never forget, because he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. and I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young who never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says,’” she continued.

Candace and Valeri have been married since 1996, after first being introduced at a charity hockey game by her Full House costar Dave Coulier. They have two other kids: Natasha, 26, and Maksim, 23, who were both also present for the discussion.
Lev is now 25.
She said her son “was such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it” that she and her husband “walked away” from the experience thinking to themselves, “We raised some pretty good kids.”
“It was so in our face, but that was like the pivotal moment — it really changed for us after that talk. There was a lot more to it, but it’s a whole different scenario when your kids sit you down to have a talk and go, ‘Are you being as mature as you can be?’ I’m so grateful to Lev and Maks and Natasha,” she concluded. “They were so supportive of everything.”
She also revealed that she thinks watching scary movies can be a portal to something “demonic.”
