More details about Hulk Hogan‘s relationship with his estranged daughter Brooke Hogan are being revealed.

The 37-year-old daughter of the late wrestling icon has been open about their complicated relationship in the years leading up to his death. Now, her husband Steven Oleksy is sharing more details about the rift between the two of them.

According to Steven, Hulk never met his twin grandchildren before his death due to a lack of interest to reconnect with Brooke.

Steven told PEOPLE that he reached out to Hulk “about a month and a half” after he and Brooke welcomed their twins.

“I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest,” Steven said, sharing that her brother Nick Hogan came by to meet the twins but that her father was never interested.

Steven says that he kept in touch with Hulk in order to be a bridge between Brooke and her father as she set boundaries in their relationship.

He told PEOPLE, “I remained in contact with members of her family to try to keep that door open and understand if I should protect my wife or try to mend the relationship.”
