Jason Isaacs, the actor that played Lucius Malfoy in the original Harry Potter films, is ready to hand the character off to a new actor!

On Monday (June 9), the 62-year-old actor reacted to the news that Johnny Flynn would be taking on the role in the upcoming HBO series.

Jason had nothing but kind words for the actor and musician as he passes Lucius’ iconic cane on to him for the role.

In a post shared to X, Jason praised the casting decision and said, “A fantastic actor, a lovely man and, irritatingly, a rather brilliant musician too. Couldn’t have handed the snake-topped baton on to anyone better. Just please don’t make him sing…”

Along with sharing his support for the new Lucius Malfoy, Jason also shared some kind words for his on-screen son reprising the role of Draco Malfoy for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. He shared on X that he’s already got “tickets booked for November.”
