Prosecution Holds Its Ground

Lead prosecutor Maurene Comey, however, insisted the issue was not about where the juror lived, but about how forthcoming he was. She described the inconsistencies as part of “a lack of candour” and argued that honesty is essential in such a high-profile case. 

Federal prosecutors also rejected any implication that race was a factor in their concerns, highlighting that the jury remains diverse.

The judge agreed, stating that the juror’s credibility could not be restored, no matter what clarification he might offer. “There is nothing the juror can say at this point that can put the genie back in the bottle,” Judge Subramanian said.
