Michael Douglas doesn’t have any plans to act again, but he doesn’t want to officially retire just yet.

The 80-year-old actor made an appearance at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and discussed stepping back from acting after a 60-year career.

“I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realized I had to stop,” he said (via Variety). “I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back. I say I’m not retired because if something special came up, I’d go back, but otherwise, no.”

Michael has said he knows who he wants to play him in a biopic, if one were to be made.
