Penn Badgley addressed a long-standing error concerning his son's name, which had been falsely reported as James, stemming from an incorrect Wikipedia entry. Despite ongoing corrections, the misinformation continued to persist online.

The actor explained that the incorrect name had even reached family friends, prompting them to send cards incorrectly addressed to his son as James, which led Badgley to publicly rectify the information.

During his appearance on The Tonight Show, Badgley stressed the importance of using his public platform to correct the error, while also maintaining the privacy of his young son by refraining from disclosing his real name.

In addition to clearing up the name confusion, Badgley shared personal family news, revealing that he and his wife Domino Kirke are expecting identical twin boys, a development that fills the family with excitement and anticipation.

Badgley, who is also a stepfather to Domino's 16-year-old son Cassius, expressed joy and a touch of anxiety about becoming a parent to twins, describing the sonogram images and the unique experience it presents.

Penn Badgley Clarifies His 4-Year-Old Son's Name is Not James, After Years of Misreporting

Penn Badgley is clearing up some false information about his son’s name.

The 38-year-old You actor and his wife Domino Kirke, who is currently pregnant with twin boys, welcomed a son back in August 2020. Penn is also stepdad to Domino‘s 16-year-old son Cassius from a previous relationship.

For years, it has been reported that the couple’s 4-year-old son’s name is James, but while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (May 1), Penn clarified that his son’s name is NOT James.

Keep reading to find out more…“This is a very weird thing to say but our littlest who is four… everybody is like, ‘What on earth is he about to say?’” Penn started. “His name is not James.”

Penn went on to explain that the wrong name first appeared on Wikipedia, and it’s been very hard to get correct the misinformation.

“The internet, on Wikipedia, for many years, his name was James,” Penn continued. “And we’d get it removed, it would go back. His name’s not James. And like, you know, I feel weird saying that but I just thought, well, you know what? I have a platform, why not clear the air?”

Penn said that one of the reasons why he decided to publicly declare that his son’s name isn’t James is because even those close to him started calling his son James after seemingly Googling it to double-check.

“There are people who are close to the family who haven’t seen us in a while, they send us a card and it says, ‘To all of us and James,’” Penn shared.

Penn, who prefers to keep his private life out of the spotlight, went on to explain why he will not be publicly revealing his son’s actual name.

“His name, because he’s four, will remain undisclosed for as long as we can. It’s a good name though!” the Gossip Girl alum noted.

Later in the interview, Penn went on to share how the whole family is excited to welcome identical twin boys later this summer.

“It’s thrilling, obviously. It’s such a nice dose of reality. Like every time I see the sonogram it just… it feels so good,” Penn gushed. “So as an only child, that’s touching to see them together. They’re in there like it’s a hot tub. I actually have seen… there’s a sonogram of them almost like facing each other.”

“I cannot fathom what it would be like to have someone with you there,” he continued. “You know what I mean? And I’m going to be parenting them? I’m going to have to raise them!”

Penn added that both his 4-year-old and his stepson are “very” excited about the babies.

“The four-year-old we have — I just said it like he’s a bag or something — he’s stoked because he really wants to be a big brother,” Penn said. “And the 16-year-old, he’s excited for us but he’s also like, ‘I’m going to leave in two years.’”

If you missed it, another star also recently clarified that their child’s name had been misreported for years too!
