Sarah Jessica Parker is speaking out in response to backlash that she has received over not watching her HBO Max TV series And Just Like That, or the previous show, Sex and the City.

The 60-year-old actress revealed in a recent interview that she doesn’t watch the show, which some fans assumed meant that she doesn’t enjoy working on the show.

SJP is now clarifying what she meant.

“I don’t not watch it because I’m being cavalier about my relationship, I don’t watch it because I don’t love watching my work. Myself. It doesn’t touch on like how I feel about the experience or how much I care. In fact, it’s because I care that I can’t watch it,” she said.

Sarah Jessica previously told E! News, “Oh my God, no. I don’t watch it, never seen it. Never seen Sex and the City, most of them.”

SJP‘s kids also don’t watch.

“I think it’s very odd for them to yet let it into their viewing queue,” she told E! News. “Even for James Wilkie, he started by coming to the premiere of And Just Like That, then he started watching the show but school work got in the way. But it’s all available for them some day if they want it, they’ll get no pressure from me.”
