The Waterfront has been out now for over a week and it’s a hit!

The Netflix series debuted on June 19th and has remained a top TV show on the streamer since, currently the No 2 show in the US.

In the series, inspired by true events, viewers dive “into the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”

Naturally, fans are wondering whether the show will be continuing on for another season.

As of right now, The Waterfront has not been renewed for Season 2, nor has it been canceled.

In it’s first few days of streaming, The Waterfront quickly rose to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 weekly chart for the week ending June 22nd. The series brought in 8.3 million views, with 53.3 million hours viewed in it’s first three days!

Series creator and showrunner Kevin Williamson recently opened up about the potential for more seasons.

“You know, it’s interesting. This is a new landscape. Netflix is a new world to me. Streaming is a new world to me. I think, three seasons? If they wanted four…” Kevin told THR.

“The good news is, with a family, I feel like we have such a great cast of actors that we could explore beyond three seasons. But I went in there pitching three — that’s [Netflix’s] magic number,” he continued. “In the back of my head, [I was thinking], ‘Oh, this could go four [seasons]. It’s only eight episodes.’ I mean, three seasons is one season of network [television]. I could go five seasons if it’s a success, but I’d be happy with three. Three would be a solid number.”
