The crash occurred near Henry’s Lake, a popular recreational area about 15 miles from Yellowstone, and both vehicles caught fire following the collision.

The driver of the pickup truck, Isaiah Moreno, was identified as a 25-year-old from Texas, while the deceased van passengers were awaiting identification through DNA testing due to the condition of their bodies.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were deployed to the crash site because of the severe injuries involved, and good Samaritans managed to rescue eight people, including a child, before the van was engulfed in flames.

The van was carrying a group of tourists visiting Yellowstone, with two of the deceased identified as Italians, though the origins of the other four victims remain unclear.

U.S. Highway 20 was shut down for nearly seven hours as emergency responders worked to contain the situation, provide aid, and clear the wreckage from the road.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, while the community and responders deal with the aftermath of this devastating incident.
