A consultant hired to evaluate security at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's residence after it was firebombed will not release the findings publicly due to their sensitive nature. The security breach involved an intruder who climbed a fence, entered the residence, and set fires with gasoline-filled bottles, raising concerns about the existing security measures. Retired state police Col. Jeffrey Miller, leading the review, believes the recommended changes will prevent future incidents. Political figures are calling for parts of the report to be shared with lawmakers to understand the security lapses, despite the need to keep detailed plans confidential for safety. The attack, linked to religious and political motives, resulted in significant damage but no injuries, and the suspect, Cody Balmer, is currently in custody amid ongoing evaluations of his mental competence for trial.

The intruder managed to bypass state police security by climbing a 7-foot fence and breaking into Governor Shapiro's residence, where he ignited fires using gasoline-filled beer bottles, causing extensive damage but no injuries.

Retired state police Col. Jeffrey Miller's San Diego-based firm was contracted for over $35,000 to assess and recommend improvements to the security measures at the governor's residence, following the attack.

The consultant's report on the security evaluation is not being released to the public due to the sensitive nature of its findings, although the recommendations aim to prevent future security breaches.

Political figures, such as Pennsylvania House Minority Leader Jesse Topper, are requesting access to parts of the report to understand the security failings, although they acknowledge the need for confidentiality concerning enhanced security plans.

The suspect, Cody Balmer, has been charged with attempted homicide, arson, and other offenses, and is under evaluation to determine his mental competence to stand trial, as his actions may have been motivated by religious or political bias against Governor Shapiro.

Governor Shapiro and his family, who were celebrating Passover at the time of the attack, safely evacuated the residence thanks to prompt action by the Executive Services Office.

The attack has prompted discussions about the need for increased security funding and measures, with lawmakers potentially being asked to approve additional resources to safeguard the governor's residence.
