Kristi Noem 'Blindsided' by Daily Mail Report on Husband's Secret Life

It has been a turbulent stretch for Kristi Noem. Just one week after being ousted from her role as Secretary of Homeland Security — fired by President Trump via a Truth Social post — the former DHS chief was hit with a new crisis, this time at home.

A Daily Mail investigation published on March 31 alleged that her husband, Bryon Noem, 56, had been leading a secret online life involving fetish forums, cross-dressing photos, and at least $25,000 in payments to online models.

A spokesperson for Kristi said in a statement to the New York Post: "Ms. Noem is devastated. The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time."

What the Daily Mail Reported

The Daily Mail claimed it obtained hundreds of messages and photos tied to Bryon Noem, involving three separate women from the so-called "bimbofication" scene — a fetish community centered on performers who modify their bodies with silicone injections and surgical enhancements to achieve an exaggerated doll-like appearance.

Photos published by the outlet, some reportedly showing Bryon's face, appeared to show him wearing pink hot pants and large fake breasts made from balloons. Messages attributed to him included praise for the models and comments about his preference for exaggerated physical features.

The Daily Mail also reported that Bryon used an alias and made payments via PayPal and Cash App totaling at least $25,000. One model told the outlet she accidentally pocket-dialed the alias and heard a voicemail greeting that said "Noem Insurance, leave a message" — the name of Bryon's South Dakota-based business.

How the Tip Originated

Axios reporter Marc Caputo revealed on social media that he had received a tip about the story as far back as February 13 — weeks before the Daily Mail published it. The source told him an immigrant sex worker, possibly in the country illegally, wanted to go public about Bryon Noem's alleged online activity as an act of retaliation against DHS's immigration enforcement policies under Kristi Noem's leadership.

Caputo said he shared the information publicly to illustrate how reporting tips sometimes work, noting he had not pursued the story himself.

The Noem Marriage in the Spotlight

Kristi and Bryon Noem are high school sweethearts who married in 1992. They have three adult children — daughters Kassidy and Kennedy, and son Booker — and are grandparents to their daughters' children. Throughout Kristi's political career, the couple has publicly emphasized their Christian faith and traditional family values.

In a 2019 blog post written during her time as governor of South Dakota, Kristi described Bryon as "a partner in all I do and a helpmate through peaceful and busy times. He's not perfect, but he's perfect for me."

Bryon had been publicly supportive of his wife throughout her turbulent final weeks at DHS, traveling to Washington to sit behind her during her combative congressional hearings in March.

What Kristi Was Already Dealing With

The report landed at an already difficult moment. During her congressional hearings, Kristi faced questions about her department's immigration enforcement activities, including the fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens in Minnesota, and her creation of a $220 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign encouraging undocumented immigrants to self-deport.

She was also pressed publicly about her alleged affair with political adviser Corey Lewandowski, who is also married. Both have denied the rumors. When Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove asked Kristi directly if she had engaged in a sexual relationship with Lewandowski, Kristi responded: "I am shocked we're going down and peddling tabloid garbage in this committee."

Kristi has since been appointed as a special envoy to the Shield of the Americas, a State Department role. Neither she nor Bryon responded to requests for comment on the Daily Mail report.
