Why Perplexity AI is Capturing the Attention of Tech Giants

Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more advanced, and everyone wants a piece of it. Whether you're asking Siri a question, asking Alexa to turn the lights off, or having ChatGPT help you with that big work project deadline, people are starting to use it every single day.

In fact, research shows that at least 61% of U.S. adults have used AI within the last six months, and one in five of people reported using it daily.

And it's not just the younger generations hoping on the AI train. While 76% of Gen Z's use AI, 70% of millenials us it, 59% of Gen X use it, and 45% of Baby Boomers us it.

AI isn't just a trend - it's here to stay, and it's quickly changing the world around us. With a $12 billion market in just over two years, it's no wonder everyone wants an opportunity to profit off it. While you might think of ChatGPT first, there are other competitors emerging in the market wanting a piece of some AI pie. One of which is called Perplexity.

Perplexity is one of the newer models in the world of artificial intelligence, designed to help its users quickly access information and answer questions in a conversational matter. Similar to other chatbots like ChatGPT, Perplexity uses machine learning models to understand natural language and provide accurate, context-aware responses.

Founded in 2022, Perplexity quickly gained attention as it provided users with a new alternative to other chatbots. It offers two main search options: Quick Search and Pro Search.

Quick Search allows users to get fast, direct answers to basic queries pulled from various sources across the web. This is a good option for anyone who is looking for quick, casual fact-checking.

Pro Search, on the other hand, is designed for users who need more detailed answers. This is a paid service that offers more advanced search capabilities, including deeper insights and access to more data sources. The Pro Search option costs $20 per month and can be beneficial for business or research purposes.

But what really sets Perplexity apart from other chatbots?

This technology is unique in its ability to pull real-time data from the web, giving you answers that are always up-to-date. So, whether you're asking about the latest news or looking for details on a niche topic, Perplexity is able to find the most relevant and current information.

Compared to ChatGPT that has a fixed knowledge base without access to live data from the web, Perplexity can be better for fact-checking or researching current events.

With this helpful ability, it's no surprise that other tech giants are keeping on eye on Perplexity, and maybe even wanting to buy it.

As AI continues to advance, Apple, Meta, and other tech giants are watching closely. Perplexity has quickly made waves, processing millions of queries and being valued at 14 billion in 2025, so it's no wonder big players are taking notice.

Reports suggest that Apple in particular is in talks to acquire Perplexity. While no deal has been made yet, it's clear Apple sees the value in strengthening their AI capabilities, especially after facing criticism for lagging behind competition like Google and Meta. If the deal goes through, it could help Apple cut ties with third-party AI providers like OpenAI and Google, giving them more control.

However, there are concerns about how this acquisition could impact Apple's existing partnerships and what it could mean legally for integrating Perplexity's technology. Even with these challenges, acquiring Perplexity could be the push Apple needs to step up its AI game and compete more aggressively in that world.
