Blackhawks have a Connor Bedard path to adding Connor McDavid in shock NHL decision
Why have one Connor when you could have two?
That's the question the Chicago Blackhawks are hoping against all odds they get a chance to answer.
They've got young rising star Connor Bedard, and if they happen to look way better in 2025-26, maybe they'll have an outside chance of adding Connor McDavid.
That's the idea presented in a recent Bleacher Report story wondering about McDavid's next destination:
In their current state, you probably couldn't convince McDavid to sign with the Blackhawks for all of the money in the world. Winning is the name of the game, and Chicago hasn't been close to winning in a decade.
But what if the Blackhawks can take a big step forward this season? What if they can get closer with Connor Bedard becoming the superstar everybody expects him to be? Could it become an option?
The Blackhawks are an Original Six franchise with a championship background, they're in a major market, and they have almost zero long-term contracts or investments on the books. They would have money to throw at not only McDavid, but potentially other players that could help round out the roster.
McDavid is entering the final year of his contract. That's what makes this even a remote possibility.

The Edmonton Oilers superstar would have his pick of the entire league if he chooses not to sign an extension.
It seems most likely that he sticks around for a record-setting eight-year contract. But if it's a bumpy season, that could open up other destinations.
Chicago's only chance is if their current Connor, and the guys around him, take a big leap this season.
