Bucks $48 million All-Star linked to 76ers to help Joel Embiid
All indications point to the Milwaukee Bucks finally moving on from veteran Brook Lopez. Lopez, an All-Star, champion in Milwaukee, and much more throughout his successful NBA career, would be welcomed by other teams around the league.
Unfortunately, time has run out in Milwaukee, and it seems the better plan for the Bucks is to allow him to walk.
Regarding where he could end up, many teams around the league will be interested in adding a shot blocker who can shoot the three-point shot at an above-average clip for a center.
One of those teams could be the Philadelphia 76ers, with Declan Harris of Sports Illustrated recently linking the two sides, adding that Philadelphia hasn't had much success from the backup center position in recent years.
“The 37-year-old has been a cornerstone of the Bucks' frontcourt, being known as a sharpshooting big man. Last season was no different, as Lopez averaged 13 points and five rebounds per game, on 50.9 percent shooting from the field, and 37.3 percent from beyond the arc.
“These numbers are beyond what Drummond managed with the Sixers last season, while being more comparable to what Yabusele averaged with 11 points and 5.6 rebounds, as well as an efficient 38 percent shooting from downtown,” he wrote.

With Joel Embiid’s nagging injuries, adding Lopez makes plenty of sense. Outside of the 2021-2022 season, when he underwent back surgery, he’s been available, playing in at least 70 games since the 2020-21 season.
Lopez is now 37 years old, but he’s been a steady professional and veteran throughout his career, which is something the 76ers should want to add.
