Cleveland Guardians named as best fit for Orioles outfielder

As trade talks between teams around the league continue to come up, teams will soon have to make a decision whether or not they will buy or sell at the trade deadline in July.

One of those teams in that position is the Cleveland Guardians. The Guardians are in a tricky spot on whether to buy or sell at the deadline. They currently sit at 39-37 and just 0.5 games out of the wild card race behind the Seattle Mariners.

ESPN baseball writer Kiley McDaniel released a story naming the top 50 players who could be traded at next month’s deadline. One player that McDaniel named Cleveland as a top fit along with the Phillies and Mets for Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins.

“Mullins is a 30-year-old center fielder in a contract year who contributes in a number of ways, but his power numbers are trending up this season and are at their best since 2021,” McDaniel wrote.

Mullins is hitting .220 on the season, but has hit 12 home runs and driven in 35 runs. The left-handed hitter could help solve an offense problem in Cleveland. The Guardians rank 25th in the MLB in runs scored and 24th in the MLB in home runs hit.

McDaniel gave the chance of Mullins being dealt before the deadline at 70%, so it is likely that Mullins could not only be traded, but the thought of him going to Cleveland could become reality.
