Dia Bell, Texas commit, rises to ESPN's No. 1 quarterback

There's a new QB1 in the class of 2026.

And he's a Texas Longhorn.

Following his Elite 11 MVP showing last week, American Heritage (Florida) five-star quarterback Dia Bell was named the nation's No. 1 quarterback and No. 4 overall prospect in the updated ESPN rankings.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound signal-caller has been on a tear all camp season, culminating with his MVP award at the country's most celebrated quarterback camp.

Of note, Bell is the son of former Phoenix Suns player Raja Bell.

Here's what ESPN had to say about Bell's rise to the top of the board:

"Other quarterbacks may have stronger arms, quicker releases or be better athletes, but Bell's combination of physical traits and sustained performance over three days helped him win the 2025 Elite 11 MVP. Now he ranks among the five best prospects in the class and leapfrogs Georgia commit Jared Curtis as the No. 1 quarterback. Bell is supremely confident and accustomed to competing against the best of the best, and it showed. His future fit at Texas is similar to Arch Manning's, and if Bell follows a similar developmental blueprint, he will get bigger, stronger and more mature over time."

Overall, the 2026 Texas recruiting class consists of 15 pledges and is ranked No. 10 nationally, led by Bell and fellow five-star recruit Jermaine Bishop, an athlete out of Willis (Texas).
