Edgar Berlanga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz full card results: Powerful Sheeraz punches Berlanga into submission

Edgar Berlanga came into his fight with Hamzah Sheeraz with a lot of confidence. “The Chosen One” believed his power was something to marvel at. In his home of New York and coming out with Fat Joe, a win was considered inevitable.

What he didn’t count on was someone stronger than him taking him out multiple times and forcing him to go back to the drawing board once again.

Sheeraz took Berlgana down multiple times in Flushing. The former became a star in the United States with a dominant fourth and a definitive fifth. Berlanga was leaned back and out of the ring after the referee saw enough.

The fans at Louis Armstrong Stadium went wild when Sheeraz (22-0-1) and Berlanga (23-2) tried going punch-for-punch. Both have power, and it was only a matter of when, not if, the fight would end via knockout. Sheeraz initially pushed Berlanga back, making for a tentative start.

As the fight went on, Sheeraz used his reach to damage the face of Berlanga. Berlanga attempted to counter his shots, which he did to some success. That is especially true when he landed uppercuts and hooks.

However, as Berlanga got closer, Sheeraz found an easy target. Combinations from the inside rocked Berlanga, and by the ropes, he got dropped twice in the fourth round. In the fifth, it only took a few seconds for Sheeraz to punish Berlanga to the point that the referee knew he had to step in.

Berlanga is now 2-2 in his last two fights.

Sheeraz is now in line to face undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, who is set to face Terence Crawford in September.
