Former Buffaloes wide receiver headlines list of tryout players at Broncos minicamp
The Denver Broncos are hosting another round of tryouts during a minicamp, this time at the mandatory version of minicamp.
The Broncos brought in a laundry list of players to try out at the team's rookie minicamp last month and signed three new players to contracts. Utah State wide receiver Kyrese White and Michigan State linebacker Jordan Turner were both given contracts as was veteran tight end Cole Fotheringham.
Fotheringham was waived with an injury settlement last week and replaced with a different tight end, Caden Prieskorn.
As the team gets its mandatory minicamp underway, there are seven new players looking to make an impression and one of those is former Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Will Sheppard. Playing with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter last season, Sheppard caught 48 passes for 621 yards and six touchdowns in his lone season at Colorado after transferring from Vanderbilt.
He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent but was waived on May 9 by the team. He's looking to get a shot in training camp with the Broncos and at 6-foot-3 with 27 touchdown receptions in college, he may just get that opportunity.
Here are the six other players the team brought in for a look at mandatory minicamp:
Wyett Ekeler, S, Wyoming (Brother of Washington Commanders RB Austin Ekeler)
Gavin Pringle, CB, Georgia St.
Jaden Smith, WR, Nevada
Patrick Murtagh, TE, Australia
Shane Cokes, DL, Colorado
Milo Eifler, LB, Free Agent
Eifler is a 27-year-old linebacker who went undrafted in 2021. He has had stints with five different NFL teams.
