Former Knicks forward is the 'perfect choice' to replace Tom Thibodeau
Well, the New York Knicks are in the market for a new head coach.
On Monday, a tweet from a well-known parody account circulated that head coach Tom Thibodeau was fired. At that time, he hadn't. But, on Tuesday, the Knicks did move on from Thibodeau just shortly after losing in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Former Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone's name has swirled early on, but who knows what direction New York will decide to go in.
After the news came, former Knicks forward and NBA veteran Metta World Peace advocated for himself as the job with a post on X.
"Metta is the perfect choice for head coach of the @nyknicks. Since 1999 this was suppose to happen. I’ve never ran from the city. When all the top players left NYC because it was hard , I went to @StJohnsBBall. I wanted to be drafted by the Knicks, I seemed to be the only one un-afraid of the city. I’m built to challenge the city. I’m the number one guy for the job. And I have 360degree experience."
World Peace played for six different teams in his NBA career, including stints with the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers, where he won his only NBA title alongside Kobe Bryant.
He did spend one season with the Knicks, and it would be an out-of-the-box hire if they brought him on board.
