Giants may cut ties with Russell Wilson before season is even over in favor of Jaxson Dart
The Giants signed Russell Wilson to be their starting quarterback in 2025.
That doesn't mean he'll be starting by the end of the season for New York.
ESPN's Dan Graziano lays out the issue at hand in a new article Wednesday, using the word "temptation" to describe the idea of Jaxson Dart starting games instead of Wilson or Jameis Winston.
Here's the full thought from Graziano:
"Every year, it seems there's at least one team telling us it wants to sit its rookie quarterback as long as possible -- all year if necessary. The Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to make double sure they had capable veteran options while Dart developed into an NFL-ready starter.
"But the reality is, it rarely works out. Last season's Patriots were starting Jacoby Brissett and saying many of the same things, but they were so bad early on that Drake Maye took over the starting job in Week 6. Unless the Giants are scoring points and winning games at a surprising rate early in the season, it feels inevitable that they reach a point where it's time to see what Dart can do."

Wilson didn't blow anyone away in his time in Pittsburgh last season. Winston was actually the more prolific passer in 2024 as a member of the Browns.
But Dart is the future, and if the Giants fall out of the race, it'll be his time sooner rather than later.
New York likely would keep its veterans around to help mentor Dart, but when it's his time to shine, they can't afford to hold him back. He's the only path to a brighter tomorrow for the Giants.
