Guardians’ 1st-round draft pick hit 68 college homers and is nicknamed Lord Tubbington
The Cleveland Guardians got a special talent in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
With the 27th pick, Cleveland chose Jace Laviolette, a slugger out of Texas A&M.
In his college career, Laviolette blasted an impressive 68 home runs.
Maybe even more notable is his nickname: Lord Tubbington.
His teammates gave him that nickname because of his resemblance to the overweight cat character on Glee by the same name.
That's flattering.

It doesn't really matter, though, as long as Laviolette rakes.
The Guardians have a much better track record developing minor league pitching than they do minor league hitting.
But if they can get Laviolette to reach his potential, he'll be a big middle-of-the-order addition down the road.
