Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 results, highlights: Taylor goes 3-0 against Serrano to complete epic trilogy

NEW YORK — Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano were already trailblazers heading into the first of three fights in three years. Over 30 rounds and two fights inside Madison Square Garden later, they reached otherworldly status.

Inside a packed MSG with passionate fans divided between Puerto Rico and Ireland, Taylor once again toppled Serrano via majority decision. The judges scored the fight 95-95, 97-93, 97-93. The Sporting News had it a draw, 95-95.

The moment the first bell of the night rang, it felt like a special atmosphere. From cheering their favorites to various songs, Most Valuable Promotions put on a true event. It was all thanks to Taylor and Serrano, who have cultivated a massive following during their time together.

Both fighters were tentative to start. Some may have scored the first round 10-10 due to the lack of action. Serrano landed flurries at certain points, but not to the same degree as the last two fights. Perhaps she was wary of potential headbutts from Taylor. The undisputed super lightweight champion was also tentative, perhaps avoiding Serrano's power.

Taylor did showcase tremendous power at one point. Serrano returned the favor, but it wasn't enough to secure a win against the woman who is 3-0 against her.

Taylor (25-1) and Serrano (47-4-1) landed the same number of punches (70). Per Compubox, Serrano threw 382, while Taylor threw 231. In total, Taylor threw fewer on all strikes (jabs, power, total punches), her accuracy likely giving her the edge.  

It's unknown what the future holds for either fighter. A fourth fight is an option. Taylor also has Chantelle Cameron to worry about (more on her later). Serrano is still the unified featherweight champion and has options.  

The two will forever be connected to one another.

The entire event had a Guinness World Record of title fights to complement the two warriors in the ring.

Alycia Baumgardner wanted to make a statement after signing with MVP, and the undisputed super featherweight champion did just that, defending her gold inside MSG against Jennifer Miranda. Baumgardner's (16-1) hooks looked as sharp as her dance skills as she powered past Miranda (12-1).

Shadasia Green was one of the first signings to MVP. She grew in front of our eyes as a boxer. From a brawler to a skilled fighter, Green (16-1) stormed back in the later rounds and overcame a point deduction for holding to beat Savannah Marshall (13-2), becoming the unified super middleweight champion. 

In her first fight at MSG, Ellie Scotney was magnificent. The London-born fighter cruised past Yamileth Mercado to become the unified super bantamweight champion. Sctoney (11-0) produced complete performance, landing crisp inside shots to the body and head of Mercado (24-4).

At one point, Scotney put one hand down and just slapped Mercado with a strike.  It was the quickest she's ever looked. Scotney has proven to be an elite U.K. talent. 

Dina Thorslund was removed from her bout against Shurretta Metcalf. It makes one wonder how she would have done against the 40-year-old Metcalf, who got battered by Cherneka Johnson. Johnson imposed her will against Metcalf, knocking her down in the fourth round. 

The referee and doctor checked on Metcalf (14-5-1) twice, and it wasn't until the ninth round that the fight got called. Johnson (18-2), who replaced Thorslund, became the first fighter in the four-belt era to become undisputed at bantamweight. 

The last fight of the prelims showcased what could be next for Katie Taylor.  Former Taylor opponent Cameron (21-1) and Jessica Camara (14-5-1) went back and forth for the interim WBC super lightweight title. Both landed heavy shots, looking to hold gold and win a fight bonus. 

Camara started hot but faltered as the fight went on. Cameron took advantage and landed hard shots on the inside. Her jabs were efficient and enough to earn the win on the scorecards.

Round ten: Marshall with inside body shots. Green with overhand shots that connected. They started brawling on the inside. Green with hard blows that pushed Marshall back. Green won in a close contest.

Round ten: They landed shots, with Scotney winning the exchange with more effective blows. She stalked Mercado to the ropes and just went to town. Massive hook connected. One-handed hook. She won via unanimous decision. What a complete performance.

Round nine: At the start of round nine, the doctor checked Metcalf for a second time. It was decided she finally had enough. Massive win for Cherneka Johnson, battering her for eight rounds to become the undisputed bantamweight champion. 

Round eight: The doctor checked on Metcalf at the start of round eight. They exchanged shots. Johnson continued to land the better blows of the two. Johnson landed more punches that pushed Metcalf's head back.

Ramla Ali earns win against Lila Furtado

Round eight: Furtado and Ali exchanged by the ropes. Things kicked into high gear in the last round. Ali landed flurries, her best round of the fight. Ali won via unanimous decision in a surprise outcome. Many inside MSG booed that decision. Will we have to worry about the judges in the main event?

Round seven: Furtado landed hooks. Ali tried to fight in the clinch, while also attempting to avoid further damage. Furtado connected with inside body shots.

Round six: Furtado worked the body from the clinch. When they both moved back, Furtado reached for a hard strike. Ali's striking is causing minimal damage.

Tamm Thibeault pummels Mary Casamassa in three-minute round fight

Round five: Thibeault continued to press forward. She landed pummeling body shots. She was made for three-minute rounds. By the corner, Thibeault wouldn’t stop landing shots. The fight is over! 

Round four: Thibeault used her height to her advantage. She landed hooks to the head. Several calculating shots, from hooks to jabs, connected. A counter hook pushed Casamassa’s head back. She overwhelmed Casamassa.

Round three: Casamassa tried to push Thibeault towards the ropes. Casamassa went on the attack, but Thibeault was too much for her to handle. Jabs from Thibeault landed.

Round two: Thibeault used jabs to go do the attack. She then landed hooks. Casamassa tried landing counter shots. Thibeault landed crisp shots two the face of her opponents. Hooks reigned down from Thibeault. In the clinch, she landed an uppercut.

Round one: The fight was three minute rounds, which means there’s plenty of time for action. Thibeault pressed forward to start things off. She landed some hooks. Meanwhile, Casamassa tried to block hooks. Thibeault dropped Casamassa to the canvas with a body shot and a jab. That extra minute does wonders for women’s boxing.

11:20 p.m. ET: The main event is next. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are forever intertwined with one another. They dance once again. Can Taylor go 3-0 against Serrano, or will Serrano add more gold to her collection and earn a definitive win against Taylor after two attempts?

11 p.m. ET: Baumgardner didn't have the same pop as she did pre-suspension, but she managed to overpower Miranda to win. The fans were going wild during this fight, as Puerto Rico and Ireland were heavily represented. 

10:20 p.m. ET: Alycia Baumgardner is back! She defends her status as the undisputed super featherweight champion against Jennifer Miranda in he co-main event

10:05 p.m. ET: Green got deducted a point but still managed to pull off a win to become the unified champion. An upset Marshall wants to run it back.  

9:20 p.m. ET: Up next is Savannah Marshall vs. Shadasia Green for the IBF and WBO super middleweight titles. If Marshall can fight Green like she fought Franchon Crews-Dezurn, similar in styles, she should get the win. 

9:06 p.m. ET: What a complete performance by Scotney, who won via unanimous decision in her MSG debut. 

8:25 p.m. ET: The first fight of the main card: Ellie Scotney vs. Yamileth Mercado for the status of the unified bantamweight champion (IBF, WBC, WBO, and Ring). 

8:20 p.m. ET: Singing the National Anthem: JoJo

8 p.m. ET: The main card has begun. 

7:52 p.m. ET: At the start of round nine, the doctor checked Metcalf for a second time. It was decided she finally had enough. Massive win for Cherneka Johnson, battering her for eight rounds to become the undisputed bantamweight champion. She became  the first fighter in the four-belt era to become undisputed at bantamweight, male or female. 

7:18 p.m. ET: No post-match interview for Chantelle Cameron. Interesting. Instead, we are going straight to Cherneka Johnson vs. Shurretta Metcalf to determine the undisputed bantamweight champion.

7:10 p.m. ET: Cameron won in a thrilling affair. The scorecards were too wide. She now looks to face the winner of Taylor vs. Serrano. 

6:36 p.m. ET: The first of many title fights tonight is next, as Chantelle Cameron defends the interim WBC super lightweight title against Jessica Camara. 

6:32 p.m. ET: Ramla Ali won in a fight many thought Furtado should have. Ariel Helwani told Ali to her face he thought she didn't win. 

5:58 p.m. ET: The next fight will be Ramla Ali vs. Lila Furtado. 

5:30 p.m. ET: Thibeault won via TKO. The extra minute did wonders for her, knocking Casamassa down early in the fight. 

5 p.m. ET: The first fight of the night was a rare three-minute round women's boxing fight. Tamm Thibeault faces Mary Casamassa.

4:45 p.m. ET: The doors have opened and the atmosphere outside MSG is electric.
