Knicks get great news on Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo

The trade rumors have once again picked up steam for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. This time, the wounds may be self-inflicted.

Appearing a YouTube livestream with iShowSpeed, Antetokounmpo — who has spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the Bucks — was asked if he’d be returning to Milwaukee next season.

“Probably,” he said. “Probably, we’ll see.”

Antetokounmpo’s lack of a definitive answer has many wondering what that could mean. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst indicates that several teams around the NBA are monitoring this situation, and are reading extra deep into the nine-time All-Star’s most recent comments.

“I'm certainly not going to analyze something he said seaside in Greece but what I will say is the 'we'll see,' that is essentially what about five or six NBA teams are banking on, the 'we'll see,’” Windhorst said on ESPN’s Get Up.

Windhorst didn’t clarify which teams he was referring to, however the New York Knicks have been one of the teams most closely linked to Antetokounmpo this offseason, making it a safe assumption that they are involved here.

The Knicks are coming off of their best season since 2000, winning 51 games in the regular season, and advancing all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Now in the market for a star upgrade, Antetokounmpo could be just the guy they need to put them over the top.

The 30-year-old is already one of the most decorated players in NBA history. Among his accomplishments are two MVP’s, an NBA Finals MVP, a Defensive Player of the Year award, and nine All-NBA selections. Additionally, he is still in the midst of his prime, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists this past season on his way to being named to the All-NBA First Team.

“We’ll see” if Antetokounmpo remains in Milwaukee next season or is dealt before then. But for now, it’s clear that his future with the Bucks is not as certain as it once appeared just a few weeks ago.
