Lakers are doing a really weird thing with LeBron James and his trade rumors
It's probably nothing, but what if it's something?
The Los Angeles Lakers have done one really weird thing since the public began speculating about a possible LeBron James trade.
L.A. has yet to acknowledge publicly that James opted-in to his player option for 2025-26 to play the upcoming season for $52.6 million.
Of course, there's no actual need to do something like that, but it's an eternally online, social media-driven world.
This was brought to even greater attention Sunday when the Clippers made a "thank you" post for departed backup big guy Drew Eubanks.

It's a fair enough point.

It'd be easy enough for the Lakers social media team to post something like, "He's back!" with a nice crown emoji.
Instead, crickets.
It doesn't mean LeBron hasn't opted in. Clearly, he has. His agent provided comments to ESPN's Shams Charania at the time of the news.
But for whatever reason, the Lakers social media team has downplayed things.
Like we said: Maybe it's nothing, but what if it's something?
