NBA legend raves about Mavericks Cooper Flagg versatility and confidence

As Cooper Flagg gets ready to embark on what might be a prolific career in the NBA, fellow legends around the league are taking notice, including former Duke Blue Devil Grant Hill.

Hill, during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, the former Detroit Piston spoke glowingly of his fellow  Duke Blue Devils basketball alum and what he can do at the next level.

“Jason (Kidd), who I think will utilize him, put the ball in his hands and take advantage of his versatility. I'm excited to see what he can do. I think he is in a great spot and has got a chance to be on a winning team his first year, which is important for a rookie,” Hill said.

Hill, the Managing Director of USA basketball, got the chance to watch Flagg in action during a scrimmage against the select team ahead of the Paris Olympics.

“Cooper has handled the pressure so well. Last summer, we brought him in. I was a little worried that it might be too much for him ... and Day 2, he was one of the best players on the court and had no fear. He was going at these guys. ... Just go out there, compete and have fun. The weight of the world is on your shoulders. You got a great coach in Jason (Kidd) who I think will utilize him, put the ball in his hands, take advantage of his versatility. I'm excited to see what he can do. Hill said that he is in a great spot and has a chance to be on a winning team his first year, which is important for a rookie.

Flagg has constantly lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him during his time with Duke, including winning the AP national college player of the year after leading Duke to the Final Four. He was then drafted No.1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks, joining a stacked team that features All-Stars Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

Now the world will get the chance to see what Flagg does on the NBA Stage.
