Nuggets make shocking admission about possibly trading Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic has been in the MVP conversations over the past several seasons.

He's won three already, and when he hasn't won, he's usually the runner-up.

You'd think a team would never want to let go of a player that impactful, right?

To your surprise, you would actually be wrong.

Nuggets could trade Nikola Jokic in this situation

The Nuggets hit the reset button momentarily before the playoffs started, firing coach Michael Malone and GM Calvin Booth.

These were two out-of-left-field decisions, happening right before the playoffs were about to start.

The Nuggets managed to force the now-NBA champions to a Game 7 in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Jokic has been a huge part of why Denver has succeeded despite adversity, and also led the franchise to a title in 2023.

Recently, the Nuggets' owner, Josh Kroenke, spoke about a rare scenario where the Nuggets would have to trade Jokic. He talked about how the new second-apron rule could force the Nuggets into a situation where Jokic could be considered in a trade.

"I think that for us, as an organisation, going into that second apron is not necessarily something that we're scared of," Kroenke said. "I think that there are rules around it that we need to be very careful of with our injury history.

"The wrong person gets injured, and very quickly you're into a scenario I never want to contemplate, and that's trading No. 15."

To even hear these words stated publicly was shocking to many people.

Most would believe there couldn't be one scenario where Jokic would ever get traded because of the one-of-a-kind talent he is.

I guess we have entered a new era in the NBA where this can become a reality, as we saw when the Mavericks shocked the world by trading away Luka Doncic earlier this year.
