Oklahoma Sooners add six transfers to wrestling room
Roger Kish and the University of Oklahoma wrestling program went to work during the transfer season. The Sooners announced the addition of six NCAA Division I transfers for the coming year.
Joining the Oklahoma wrestling room for 2025-26 will be Tyson Charmoli from Wyoming, Tyler Wells from Minnesota, Jack Gioffre from Virginia, Peyten Kellar from Ohio, Rafael Hipolito Jr. from Virginia Tech and Brian Soldano from Rutgers.
Combined, the group has nine NCAA Championship appearances and will join four incoming freshmen to the room.
"We're thrilled to welcome this group of experienced and talented wrestlers to Norman," Kish said. "Each of these young men brings a competitive edge, strong work ethic and high character to our program. They have competed at the highest levels, and their leadership and commitment to excellence will be instrumental in continuing to elevate our program.
"We believe they will mesh well with our current roster and serve as strong mentors to our incoming freshman class."
Charmoli and Wells are both former Minnesota high school standouts, as Wells was a four-time state champion and Charmoli a three-time finalist and one-time champion. Gioffre was a California state champion and ranked in the Top 60 by FloWrestling.
Kellar, who placed fifth for the Bobcats at the NCAA Championships, was an Ohio high school state champion. Hipolito, a multi-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, won high school state wrestling titles in both Alabama and Virginia.
Soldano captured three New Jersey high school state wrestling championships, winning 99 of his 127 matches by fall. He twice qualified for the NCAA Championships for Rutgers.
