Pistons' 21 PPG scorer retires from NBA due to injuries

Bojan Bogdanovic's two seasons in Detroit put him in a role as one of the most underrated scorers in basketball.

From 2022-24, Bogdanovic suited up in 87 games for the Pistons. In that span, he averaged 21.1 points per game and shot an absurd 41.3% from 3-point range.

On Sunday, Bogdanovic announced his retirement from the NBA.

He had been under contract with the Nets in 2024-25 but not played due to injuries, which he partly credited for his decision to call it quits.

Bogdanovic averaged double-figure scoring in all but his first NBA season. That was nine years in a row with 10 or more points per game.

His career scoring average was 15.6 points per game, and he was a career 39.4% 3-point shooter.

In three separate seasons, Bogdanovic averaged more than 20 a game, including those two with Detroit.

He came to the NBA from Europe as the 31st overall pick in 2011 by the Heat. His debut didn't come until 2014 with the Nets.

He went on to play for the Wizards, Pacers, Jazz, Pistons and Knicks, too.

This is what Bogdanovic posted to announce his retirement, giving credit to every team he played for along the way:

The Pistons have grown into a playoff team since Bogdanovic left. But he filled the gap and kept Detroit competitive while the rebuild took its time to latch on.

Pistons fans will surely remember him fondly.
