Stefon Diggs video controversy, explained: What to know about viral clip of Patriots WR on boat

Stefon Diggs could be in some hot water with his new team.

A video of the Patriots wide receiver partying on a yacht and handing off what appeared to be a substance in a small bag to a woman went viral recently.

New England head coach Mike Vrabel said that the team is aware of the video making the rounds, and that he wants his players to make "great decisions" on and off the field.

Diggs was not at New England OTA's initially after attending some voluntary sessions earlier in the offseason. The Patriots signed Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract this March and are hoping he can be a go-to weapon for developing quarterback Drake Maye.

Stefon Diggs boat video

In May, a video of Diggs partying on a yacht surfaced. He seems to be having a good time when he passes a small bag with an unknown substance to a woman.

The video went around social media, with many people asking what could have been in the bag. So far, no reports have surfaced about it being anything nefarious.

Diggs has been spotted in public more than once this offseason. In May, he was sitting courtside with rapper Cardi B at Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Knicks and Pacers

The NFL issued a statement through spokesman Brian McCarthy saying they were aware of the video, but are deciding to decline on the matter.

On June 10, Diggs spoke to the media about the boat video for the first time. Asked what was in the bag in the video, the wide receiver said "it’s a conversation that’s happening internal" and “I can’t have too much conversation about it.”

Diggs also said that he considers that video "his personal life" and he spoke to head coach Mike Vrabel about the incident.

What did Mike Vrabel say about Stefon Diggs?

Vrabel was asked about the viral video of Diggs at Patriots OTA's. He said the team is aware of it, but he was mostly tight-lipped about the situation.

"We want our players to make great decisions on and off the field," Vrabel said. "Any conversations that I've had with Stefon will remain between him and I."

Is Stefon Diggs at Patriots' OTAs?

Stefon Diggs was not initially at the Patriots' OTAs in late May, after he attended some voluntary workouts earlier in the offseason.

It appeared like the wide receiver would be using training camp, which begins in July, to get himself back into playing shape. Diggs suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 of last season, when he was with the Texans, and had surgery immediately after.

Diggs didn't show up to the voluntary OTAs, but did post on Instagram, saying that he appreciated the month of May and has to stay focused.
