Minnesota Timberwolves were unceremoniously eliminated from the Western Conference Finals.

Their shortcoming was on full display throughout their matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, particularly in their inability to control the game's tempo and limit turnovers.

In response, a trade proposal from Sports Illustrated's Jon Nelson suggests a move that would bring one of the league's top point guards to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Spurs Received: Naz Reid, Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham, and Josh Minot

The Timberwolves get an upgrade at point guard, going from Mike Conley to a proven All-Star in De'Aaron Fox. Fox, who spent the better part of his career in Sacramento, was traded to San Antonio midway through the 2024-25 season.

 The former Kentucky guard has emerged as one of the best point guards in the league, helping bring the Sacramento Kings back to prominence.  
Pairing him with Anthony Edwards gives the Timberwolves one of the most explosive backcourts in the league 

The Spurs are possibly selecting Rutgers guard Dylan Harper with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 Draft. They draft their point guard for the future, and  Fox's status with the team is up in the air. 

The Spurs can maximize their window by building a contending team around third-year prospect Victor Wembanyama by adding a mix of established players that can help them win now. 

Reid gives the Spurs more depth in the frontcourt while they acquire another sharpshooter in the backcourt with Donte DiVincenzo.
