Timberwolves refuse to let Chris Finch interview for Knicks open head coach position
It feels like the Knicks have gone beyond a three-strike count at this point.
They have had an interest in countless head coach candidates, some consisting of current under-contract head coaches in the NBA.
The Knicks were once again shot down by another team when trying to interview their current head coach.

What team shut the Knicks interview request down?
Shams Charania of ESPN reported that the Knicks requested permission to interview Finch, but Minnesota didn't allow it.
From Minnesota's standpoint, it makes complete sense.
They were just in the Western Conference Finals for the second year in a row, and have a quality coach in Chris Finch.

The Knicks are trying to steal a current employed coach from a team, and are expected to request permission from additional teams, according to Shams.
Usually, we tend to see this happen more with employed assistant coaches, not head coaches.
Their best bet right now might be going for one of the many recently fired coaches like Mike Brown, Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins, who have had recent success in the league.
All of these coaches are reputable and would be easier to negotiate a contract with, without needing a team's permission.
