Two former Chargers players land on list of 10 best under 30 still unsigned

As the 2025 NFL season draws closer, the free-agent market contains a bunch of scraps and some veterans who are either looking for the perfect fit or hoping a team calls to give them a chance.

The dreaded age of 30 is real for NFL players and once on the other side of that, opportunities in the league and playing time usually start to shrink.

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report took a look at who he feels are the 10 best players under 30 who are still looking for a new deal. Two of those players were with the Los Angeles Chargers last season.

Former Chargers wide receiver D.J. Chark comes in at No. 10 on that list. Chark, 28, did almost nothing for the Chargers last season as injuries really slowed him down. It was believed that he would provide a veteran presence for the team after he was signed but he ended up catching only four passes for 31 yards, though one of those receptions was for a touchdown.

Moton sees the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans as two teams who could give Chark a look before the season starts.

At No. 3 on Moton's list is former Chargers cornerback Asante Samuel, Jr. Once seen as the cornerback of the future for the team, he played in just four games for the team last season as a result of injuries and the two sides don't seem to want much to do with the other going forward.

A neck injury has slowed down interest in Samuel during free agency, but he will have it reevaluated in July and if all is well, he'll likely get an offer from a team as he is only 25 years old.

Moton sees the Miami Dolphins, who are expected to trade Jalen Ramsey this offseason, and the New Orleans Saints, who hosted Samuel on a visit, as the top potential suitors.
