Warriors star Draymond Green takes accountability for punching Jordan Poole
Jordan Poole was expected to be a significant piece of the Golden State Warriors' future. He played a key role in their championship run in 2021-22 as Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson won their fourth title with the franchise.
Things took at turn for the worst ahead of the following season as the young guard was involved in an altercation with Green, leading the four-time All-Star to deliver a franchise-altering punch. Poole had an awful showing in the 2022-23 postseason and was traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul during the offseason.
Green recently appeared on "The Pivot" podcast, where he reflected on the incident -- taking accountability for his actions.
"At age 33, 34, 35, I still learn those lessons," Golden State Warriors' star Draymond Green stated Tuesday. "When that situation happened, I'm like, 'alright, cool, we move on' and then when we couldn't, I was like, huh? And for a while, it made me think like, man, this dude is nothing like me because when those things happen, you just move on."

"It taught me so much because it taught me, you're right, he may not be like you," Green continued. "He ain't from where you're from. The things you went through, the way you had to come up, he may not have came up like that. So, for that five seconds I forgot where I was at because I immediately went to what I know, but what you know don't really work here. And everybody says, 'oh, man, but you were ten years in, you should know better'. You're still learning. Nine years in. But it's them lessons like that that ultimately make me who I am to this day because, man, I (expletive) that up."
Poole was ultimately traded from Golden State and his career has yet to recover in terms of public perception. The one-time NBA champion was traded once again on Tuesday as the Wizards sent him to the New Orleans Pelicans.
