The Washington Wizards could use some veteran leadership. They picked up Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart, but adding another veteran with a little more left in the tank could help transition this perennial tanking team back towards the playoffs. Most Wizards trade rumors and ideas have the team holding onto their youth and trading their veterans, but we have a bold Wizards trade idea that does the exact opposite. 

Some Wizards trade rumors have Jordan Poole on the way out. He has been having solid seasons since joining the team, but many believe that his contract is too large and that he will never have the defensive chops or offensive discipline to lead the team to the playoffs. 

That’s why we have a crazy Golden State Warriors-Poole trade that will send the former beloved Golden State guard back home. 

The trade looks like this: 

Warriors receive: Jordan Poole and Bub Carrington

Washington Wizards receive: Draymond Green, Buddy Hield, and potentially some draft capital

At first glance, this trade may seem crazy. Both Poole and Carrington have tons of potential and could be part of the Wizards’ future plans. On the other hand, the Wizards could pick up a future Hall-of-Famer, another veteran, and draft picks while keeping key pieces like Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly.

Having Sarr learn defense from an all-time defensive player like Green could be a huge difference-maker for the Wizards’ franchise. They also would get off Poole’s large contract and have a lot more offensive load to share with Sarr, Coulibaly, and others. 

So, although at face value this trade may seem crazy, getting a winning player and defensive veteran onto the team like Green could be a risk worth taking for a Wizards team that hasn’t won anything in a very long time.
